Start with the assembly's transport risks

Identify connector damage, terminal bending, seal contamination, cable kinking, coil set, branch tangling, label abrasion, moisture, dust, compression, and mixed configurations. Add risks from handling, parcel or pallet shipment, storage orientation, and destination route.

Use the drawing and product form to set pack bends, restraints, protective caps, dividers, bags, and carton arrangement.

Packaging and record table

Put the controlled input and verification beside each packing step.

Unit protectionCable fold or coil, minimum bend, ties or restraints, connector caps, terminal guards, bags, separators, cleanliness, and unit quantity.
Bulk packageInner pack and carton quantity, orientation, dividers or cushioning, carton size, net and gross weight, stacking, pallet, and closure.

Protect geometry and interfaces

Do not force the cable into a tighter bend than the controlled product or equipment route allows. Protect mating faces, latches, locks, seals, exposed wires, terminals, soldered or PCB ends, and molded transitions from contact and load.

For coiled cords and branched harnesses, define how the form is restrained without changing the relaxed geometry or tangling branches and labels.

Control labels as data

Identify where every variable field comes from and how it is checked.

  • Part number, drawing or product revision, description, quantity, and configuration.
  • Lot, date, unit, order, carton, pallet, or shipment identifier required by the traceability plan.
  • Barcode or data-code type, encoded value, human-readable text, print quality, and scan check.
  • Destination, handling, language, and any approved component or equipment-program marking supplied for the order.

Reconcile the shipment documents

Count physical units and packages, then compare packing-list line items, package marks, net and gross weights, dimensions, and commercial-invoice quantity and description. Record how mixed part numbers or revisions are separated.

Ask the importer or logistics provider which destination and carrier fields are required; do not infer one universal document set.

Common packaging failures

Frequent problems are folding at the connector exit, unprotected terminals, labels hidden or rubbed during transit, carton quantities that do not match the packing list, mixed revisions under one mark, and generic package dimensions copied from a previous shipment.

Verify the first packed configuration and update the instruction when product form, quantity, route, label, carton, or destination changes.
